The University Extension Service (Servicio de Extensión Universitaria) of the Vice-rectorate of Culture at the University of Cadiz offers you a program full of interesting cultural activities.
If you are interested in cinema, music, dance, theater, photography, painting, literature and artistic manifestations in general and you also want to live cultural experiences and meet its protagonists, don’t wait to be told about it. Come to our programme, get to know it and immerse yourself in culture.

COMPETITIONS / PARTICIPATE WITH YOUR ARTISTIC CREATIONS
“EL DRAG” LITERARY CREATION AWARD
Do you like writing? Now is the time to show what you do.
Aimed at society in general, with the intention of encouraging literary creation and giving it more widely known among the university community, this competition offers you the chance to participate in the following categories: Narrative, Poetry and Micro-story.
QUICK PAINTING COMPETITION
If you are able to express yourself through paint, take your brushes and participate.
With the aim of encouraging art and the creation of pictorial works, as well as offering a platform to show the work of creators to society and enrich the artistic heritage of the University of Cadiz, this competition is open to anyone over 16 years.
MOBILE PHONE PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION “VEO-VEO”.
If photography is your forte, don’t hesitate, all you need is your mobile phone and a good photograph.
The aim is to stimulate and reward photographic creation among the university community using the mobile phone camera, based on a theme that is renewed each year. This year 2023: THE STRENGTH OF AN IMAGE.
TALKS AND CYCLES OF PRESENCES / MEET THE PROTAGONISTS OF CULTURE CLOSE-UP
PRESENCIAS LITERARIAS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CADIZ
The aim of the Presencias Literarias programme is to create a space for dialogue between Spanish-language writers and the public.
Numerous top authors from the world of national and Latin American literature and comics have taken part in this event, which since 2020 has also been offered in an online version with the intention of reaching more users through Facebook and Youtube.
WHERE: The activity takes place mainly on the Cadiz Campus and occasionally on the Algeciras Bay Campus.

PRESENCIAS FLAMENCAS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CADIZ
Following the same format as the Presencias Literarias, the Presencias Flamencas program aims to bring the public the opportunity to get to meet and talk to the most relevant flamenco artists in our country.
WHERE: The activity takes place on the campuses of Cádiz, Jerez and the Bahía de Algeciras campus. You can also watch them on our Youtube channel.

EXHIBITIONS/ IMMERSE YOURSELF INTO ART AND IMPRESE YOURSELF IN ARTISTIC EXPRESSION
KURSALA
The Kursala program focuses on contemporary photography, giving exhibition visibility to projects that represent the new photography, and publishing the Kursala Notebooks, photobooks in which each work is represented through its own narrative.
With almost a hundred issues published, these Kursala Notebooks are part of the documentation center of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, and have been recognised nationally and internationally through numerous prizes and awards.

LA ASUNCIÓN
Are you interested in art? La Asunción encourages artistic creation through the promotion and knowledge of the work of the authors who present their work in the hall. La Asunción brings visitors closer to all kinds of artistic manifestations, from painting to photography, sculpture, engraving or installations.

CINEMA/ INDEPENDENT, AUTEUR, DOCUMENTARY AND ORIGINAL VERSION SUBTITLES
CAMPUS CINEMA ALCANCES
This film series offers the chance to see auteur and independent films and documentaries that have won awards at the most important national and international film festivals. The films are screened in the original version with Spanish subtitles and you can enjoy a different kind of cinema that is far from the commercial circuits. Let yourself be carried away!

CAMPUS CINEMA / ALGECIRAS BAY CAMPUS
Like Campus Cinema Alcances, the programme offers auteur, independent and documentary films that have won awards at the most important national and international film festivals. The films are screened in the original version with Spanish subtitles at the Campus Bahía of Algeciras.
WHERE: Assembly Hall of the School of Engineering of the University of Cadiz in Algeciras (ETSIA).
WHEN: Every Thursday throughout the academic year. Between October and June.
MUSIC/ CONCERTS TO FEEL AND ENJOY
CAMPUS JAZZ
Campus Jazz is a program of concerts focused on contemporary jazz. It has a long history and offers the possibility of enjoying the most prestigious figures of the genre at international and national level, with the intention of reflecting the most current proposals and bringing us closer to other areas of musical culture. Take part in this immersive musical proposal in jazz, unique in its style.

CAMPUS ROCK
Over the course of almost thirty years, Campus Rock has become the benchmark concert series on the live pop and rock music circuit. National and international musicians and bands of great relevance and quality have performed on its stage, combining classic names with more contemporary bets. If you want to get away from the radio formula music and get to know new proposals, come to the Campus Rock stage and let yourself be surprised.
WHERE: Mainly on the Cadiz campus (courtyard of the 1812 Constitution Building) and more sporadically on the Bay of Algeciras, Puerto Real and Jerez campuses.
WHEN: Annual programme, between 4 and 6 concerts throughout the academic year.

CHORAL SINGING AND THEATRE / EXPLORE YOUR ARTISTIC ABILITIES
UNIVERSITY OF CADIZ CHOIR
If you like singing and want to be part of a choir, the University of Cadiz Choir offers you the chance to be part of one of the most renowned choral productions and artistic quality at national level. A choir with its own character which is reflected in the dynamism and continuous stimulation of its repertoire, focused on choral music from the 19th century onwards.
His baggage includes the preparation of classical works by professional musicians, continuous training in singing and acting and performances in first class theaters. Singing has never been so much fun.
WHERE: Rehearsals are held at the Cadiz Campus, with the activity being assigned to the rest of the campuses or to performances outside the province.
CLASSICAL THEATER GROUP “PHERSU”
The group is made up of a group of students from different specialities who have managed to become a group with a recognized trajectory, as their performances also extend to the local life of the province of Cadiz and to the whole of Andalusia.
Every year at the beginning of the academic year the call for participation in this group is opened through the website celama.uca.es. What are you waiting for to participate?

CULTURAL OBSERVATORY/ CULTURAL MANAGEMENT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS
The Cultural Observatory is an innovative platform for joint work of the ten Andalusian public universities, projected towards both Spanish and international universities.
The Observatory offers on its website interesting materials with free access, whose subject matter revolves around cultural management:

LITERATURA ANDALUZA EN RED
The contents included in the Literatura Andaluza en Red (LAR) website are freely accessible, without restrictions and focus on the Andalusian contribution to Spanish literature, both from the point of view of the authors and the historical and sociological reality transmitted in their texts. The website aims to offer materials that help the knowledge and analysis of the work produced by these authors.

FLAMENCO EN RED
The contents offered on the Flamenco en Red (FER) website provide, through a wide range of formats and tools, in-depth knowledge and dissemination of flamenco and its culture. Get to know flamenco and immerse yourself in this culture in a close way and by the hands of leading professionals.

TUTORES DEL ROCK
The aim of Tutores del Rock website is to show, through the voices of musicians, specialists and managers, the universe of rock culture, an expressive sphere that transcends its musical label framework to place itself in a universal cultural context.
Author sessions, concerts of the Campus Rock cycle, presentations of books with a musical profile or dialogues featuring musicians make up the free access contents of this website.

CINE EN RED
Our Film School programme is one of the sources of the contents of the Cine en Red website, which focuses on the world of Spanish and Andalusian cinema.
On the website you can find free access contents such as courses, dialogues, documents and meetings with film directors, actors/actresses, scriptwriters, producers or managers, as well as creative projects that inform, analyze and vindicate the history and reality of Spanish and, especially, Andalusian cinema.

SEASONAL PROGRAMMES/COMPLETE YOUR ACADEMIC TRAINING WITH THE BEST SPECIALISTS IN EACH SUBJECT AREA
The Seasonal Programs offer university students and society in general, the possibility of completing their academic training with the best specialists in each subject and in a university environment, through seminars that focus on specific and very diverse topics. With a duration of three days and 25 hours in total, students have the possibility of obtaining 1 ECTS credit.
Santander Universities offers numerous scholarships for free tuition.
These courses are accompanied by a cultural leisure programme that completes the training experience.

These schools of artistic training offer a complete programme of courses, focused on creating a network of knowledge and expression around the world of artistic manifestations.

In addition to the aforementioned programmes, the University Extension Service of the Vice- Rectorate of Culture of the University of Cadiz organizes and manages, during the year 2023 and thanks to the sponsorship of the Provincial Council of Cadiz, a package of cycles, including the aforementioned Film School, Summer Courses, Flamenco Presences, Campus Rock and Campus Jazz, which expand and enrich its cultural offer. Among them are Dialogues with songwriters, Humanities Seminar, GastroUCA, Cultural Routes, Veo-Veo Exhibition, Perspectives film projection series and events to mark the centenary of the birth of Lola Flores.
